I have taken many great pictures with this camera and have been pleased for a couple of years, however, my LCD Screeen is now going bad. I have streaks in the screeen and a spot in the middle of the screen that is getting bigger every day. I would like to know what is causing this problem. I have had similiar problems with canon cameras and their LCD screens in the past.
This is hands down the best camera ive ever purchased/used. Its picture takeing compaired to my sis's Rebel XSi is better at some points. We love this camera the only possible problem with it is that at some point in time you wont be able to fix it or able to find a new one for sale.
I say "loved it" because my friend dropped it on Halloween. I took great pics on land and underwater (in the Canon housing), and did excellent macro. My only complaint is that after a couple years some pixels started dying in the LCD screen. Could have replaced the screen if my friend didn't total it- oh well.
One bounce and it is burnt TOAST. The pieces just crumbled and this was on carpet and we do not have cement floors.
Read review after review and test drove a few. Purchased the SD870 IS and was a bit dissapointed by the picture quality (lots of red eye indoors no matter what mode) and the durability of the thing.
I searched many months for a camera. Then just the other day I dropped it not 3 feet from the ground while playing back the Halloween photos I took of my kids and poof the lens was dead.
My husband had it in his pocket and cracked the LCD during a fishing trip. It was not covered so I paid for the repair.
I am very unhappy with the quality and just wanted to let others know that if you have butter fingers (typically I do not have) then this camera is not for you. I am back on the prowl for a "tough/waterproof" camera in hopes to avoid such problems in the future.
Good all-around camera, though obsolete. Re-purchased due to theft and to fit in an existing underwater housing.
